Dates:
£310 per week + £30 per week for guardian duties
Salary:
Teachers work 13 sessions out of a maximum of 23 sessions per week, with at least one full day off per week. Teachers will be required to teach 5 sessions. The remaining 6 sessions will normally be made up through participation of on-site and off-site activities and excursions. 1 session is for lesson and materials preparation, and the 13th session ( 4 x 45 minute duties) will be for residential duties.
Qualifications: CELTA, Trinity Cert. TESOL or Post-Graduate Teaching qualification (PGCE or BEd) In exceptional circumstances, we will also consider applications from teachers who do not have one of these qualifications but substantial EFL experience.
Main duties / responsibilities
- To ensure academic EFL tuition appropriate to a summer school environment under the direction of The Director of Studies
- To maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare
- To assist with placement tests
- To ensure weekly paperwork is completed (lesson plans, reports and certificates)
- To attend all relevant meetings
- To prepare and lead designated activity sessions as directed by the Activity Manager
- To carry out residential duties, including meal, bedtime and night time supervision duties
- To act as a guardian to a small group of students
Person Specification
Essential:
- Appropriate TEFL qualifications (see above)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Possess a caring and compassionate nature
- Good time management skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Flexibility
Ideally you will have:
- Summer school experience
- Experience of continuous enrolment
- Experience of supervising / working with minors
- Residential experience
Additional Notes: Please note that activity sessions require considerable walking on guided tours, carrying sports equipment from the centre to the fields and moving furniture in preparation for indoor activities.
Your pay is broken down as Basic Pay + Holiday Pay which will be payable at the end of your employment.
A deduction of £30 per week will be made for accommodation for residential staff
Increments per week: £10 per full year TEFL experience – post qualification (max. of 3 increments)
Returning Staff Loyalty Increments: £10 per week per yearly return to MW Summer schools (max. 3 years)
Staff will accrue prorated annual holidays with pay at the rate of 5.6 weeks per annum. Unless there are special circumstances agreed during the interview, this holiday can only be taken at the end of the contract and staff will be paid for untaken holidays at the end of their employment.
